Street lamps, eye to eye

Like wires, street lamps often seem to crop up in my sketches. Well, naturally - is it possible to do a sketch of a city street without including one? But I do love them. Staring out of the window of the studio where I go to Saturday painting classes, I found myself eye to eye with this one.

Below is one of my favourite street lights. It's the one in the street where I lived for a year when I was teaching English in Taiwan. I spent a lot of time on my balcony staring at the crazy mass of wires going off in every direction.

I'll start with where I live.

This is the street where I live. I love that it is packed with everything: street lamps, telephone poles, wires, cars and houses right on top of each other.

This is what I see out my front window. My sliver of the mountian down a side alley. And more wires.
